  • What types of services are reported?

Patient experience results are reported for two service types in Ontario: nursing and personal support care.
  • What does this indicator show? What does patient experience measure?

The provider-level patient experience indicator shows the percentage of home care patients who rated the service they received by their service provider as good, very good, or excellent. Results are reported separately by CCAC and by type of service visit (i.e., nursing or personal support), since each type of service in each CCAC is organized in a different way and the patients’ characteristics may differ for those receiving nursing versus personal support services.
  • Why is it important to measure?

Patient experience is a measure of the quality of care that patients receive.
  • Should I compare across CCACs?

While Community Care Access Centres (CCACs) try to be as similar as possible in how they deliver care to patients, because of diverse geographies and populations, CCACs across the province may have different practices when it comes to referring patients to service providers. Therefore, the patient experience results are comparable within a CCAC, but not between different CCACs.
