Evidence to Improve Care

Ontario Health Technology Advisory Committee

OHTAC members listening to a presentation

Health Quality Ontario has a legislated mandate to make evidence-based recommendations to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care on which health care services and devices should be publicly funded.

We fulfill this part of our mandate with the support of the Ontario Health Technology Advisory Committee which reviews our health technology assessments and then, after careful deliberation, makes their final recommendation to us.

The Ontario Health Technology Advisory Committee is a committee of Health Quality Ontario’s Board of Directors. It consists of volunteer members from across the province, including health care experts and individuals who can contribute the patient perspective, serving on a renewable three-year term.

Sub-committees are sometimes assembled to advise the Ontario Health Technology Advisory Committee. Learn more about the Ontario Genetics Advisory Committee.
