Evidence to Improve Care

Alcohol Use Disorder

Care for People 16 Years of Age and Older

This quality standard will address care for people living with alcohol use disorder. It will include all health care settings and all health care professionals.

This standard will focus on the assessment, screening, diagnosis, management, treatment and prevention of alcohol use disorder (AUD) in the community in adults and young people (aged 16 years and older); it will address pediatric populations (over 10 years old) where required. The standard will address how to identify new or worsening symptoms of AUD (withdrawal, tolerance, and craving), and the management of AUD in patients in primary care, outpatient and emergency department settings.
