What is the Health Quality Ontario Patient, Family and Public Advisors Program?

The Advisors Program consists of patients, families and members of the public from across the province who volunteer their time by sharing their experiences with Ontario’s health system and are part of Health Quality Ontario’s work in improving the quality of patient-centred health care in Ontario. Members of our Advisors Program offer diverse experiences and perspectives and engage with us on all types of projects.

What kind of work do members of the Advisors Program do?

There are lots of opportunities for volunteer Advisors to engage at Health Quality Ontario. There are opportunities to sit on committees, work on special projects and contribute their stories to our materials. We also ask for their advice on how we communicate. .

How do I express interest to participate?

You can express your interest here. By completing the form, you will also be added to our general mailing list, which will keep you up-to-date on our patient engagement activities and our work here at Health Quality Ontario as a whole.

What about privacy?

Privacy is important to us. The personal information collected on the expression of interest form will only be used to contact you about opportunities to give input or advice to our organization directly or on projects sponsored by our organization. Your information will be retained only while you are a member of our Advisors Program and you may unsubscribe at any time.

How will I be supported?

Health Quality Ontario is committed to reducing barriers that may prevent you from participating in our Patient, Family and Public Advisors Program. Costs for travel, accommodation, caregiver support, translation and other expenses incurred by patient and family advisors for our projects at Health Quality Ontario are covered.

We are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner and do so by preventing and removing barriers to accessibility and meeting accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
