What is Health Quality

Northern Ontario Health Equity Strategy

Watercolour Northern landscape

In 2017, our report Health in the North showed that in Northern Ontario, some 800,000 people have less access to health care, and overall have worse health, than people in other parts of the province.

In 2018, Health Quality Ontario released the Northern Ontario Health Equity Strategy, developed with Northern partners, which sets out key actions to give Northerners better health care and improved health.

This strategy aims to support planning at the regional level to help support locally-appropriate approaches to improving health for communities across Northern Ontario.
