Part 1: Tuesday, March 26, 2024 | 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

Register for a webinar led by Ontario Health team members for a two-part equity series focused on improving health outcomes through data governance among equity-deserving populations.

Part one of this series will focus on the importance of respecting Indigenous data sovereignty at Ontario Health. The Indigenous Cancer Care Unit will outline their longstanding approach to partnership with First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous communities to conduct community-driven research and health data work, highlighting the ‘Catching Cancers Early’ cancer screening research project as an example. They will outline the ongoing development of an Indigenous Data Governance Matters process at Ontario Health, which aims to embed respect for Indigenous data sovereignty and governance throughout the organization.

The Indigenous Health Equity and Coordination team will go over the recently launched First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous Health Framework, which was developed in partnership with First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous leaders, communities, organizations and Nations, and includes a focus on supporting and promoting effective data collection, analysis, evaluation and governance.

Speakers:

  • Laura Senese, Scientist, Indigenous Data Governance Matters, Indigenous Cancer Care Unit, Ontario Health

  • Linnaea Jasiuk, Indigenous Lead, Indigenous Health Equity and Coordination, Ontario Health

Moderated by: Dr. David Kaplan, Vice President, Quality, Ontario Health
