Quality Improvement and Health System Funding Reform

Health Quality Ontario develops a number of supportive programs and resources to help organizations adopt and implement new funding models introduced by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care under its Health System Funding Reform strategy.

Health Quality Ontario’s supportive programs focus specifically on helping organizations adopt:

  • The Quality-Based Procedures strategy combines the introduction of new hospital funding models with clinical best practice recommendations for specific patient populations (for example, patients receiving hip replacements).

  • Integrated funding models, sometimes known as ‘bundled care,’ where a group of health care providers determine a single payment to cover all the care needs of an individual patient's hospital care and home care.
